I got started in radio at the Augustana College radio station, KAUR 89.1 FM, back in 1999. I didn't go to school at Augie, but a buddy of mine was the student program director and he was having trouble filling air shifts during the summer months when the campus was pretty empty. The station played a variety of music, but I played mainly rock and some reggae. During my two-plus years there, my co-host and I developed a once weekly all local music show and we had the opportunity to interview several bands in the Sioux Falls scene. It was fun, but it wasn't a paying gig.

At the time, I was the assistant manager at a record store. My co-host was going to go to radio school, and it was a last minute decision for me to leave everything and go with him. I graduated from the American Broadcasting School in 2002.

I worked for a station in Norfolk for about six months before taking the job as the mid-day host for our sister station, KYNT. I was also the color voice for Yankton Bucks football for three seasons.

I moved over to our other sister station, KK93, in 2005. I twanged out to country music every afternoon for five years. YEE HAW!!

Planning for The DAM started in late 2009, and a turn of events put me back on KYNT as the morning show host until KDAM hit the air on July 1st, 2010.

I've been playing guitar and bass for over ten years and have played in various bands; I was even the lead singer in a few. I love all kinds of music, but reggae, rock and acoustic stuff are my favorites. I'm currently the bass player for Last Call. Come out and see us sometime, we're fun!!

I'm a life-long Nebraska football fan. I had season tickets for years until my obligations to my current band made it impossible to go to very many games. I still try to watch or listen to every game.

I have a beautiful girlfriend who is probably the coolest person I've ever met. All I can say is that she's awesome.

Some other things you may find interesting:

I'm a black belt in TaeKwonDo.

I've moved nine times in my life; I've lived in four states and seven different cities. I've been in Yankton since August 2002. Yankton is by far the smallest town I've ever lived in, but I like it here.

I've played guitar for over ten years but I've never played Guitar Hero.

I drank Miller Lite exclusively for years because my friend won U2 tickets through Miller and we were in a luxury box at the Target Center in Minneapolis. Now I drink Budweiser products because the band is sponsored by Bud. I'm such a sellout.

The best concerts I've ever seen are the aforementioned U2 concert, the Long Beach Dub All Stars, Cheap Trick, Janitor Bob, E350, 311, Foo Fighters, Zac Brown Band and Warped Tour 2000, which featured Green Day, No Doubt, the Dub Allstars, NOFX, AFI, Avail, Flogging Molly, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Papa Roach and Weezer.

At Warped Tour 2000, I got backstage passes through my ex-girlfriend's cousin, who was a sound and light guy for the tour. I met guys from the Dub All Stars, Green Day, No Doubt and NOFX.

I've bowled a few perfect games on Wii bowling, but my highest score in real bowling is 264.

My favorite beer is Guiness, but I drink Busch Light more than anything else. My favorite cocktail is a margarita on the rocks.

Nothing beats a steak from the Black Steer. Other restaurants in Yankton that I frequent are Magilly's, Minerva's, Mexico Viejo and Charlie's Pizza. I've been kayaking for a few years now and nothing beats being on the water on a warm summer day.

I also like to disc golf and we're lucky to have so many courses in the area. I've had a few good rounds, but my play is pretty inconsistent.

I don't watch much TV, but I like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory.

My bass rig is an Acoustic B600H with the B810 stack. I play an American-made Fender P-Bass. I also own an American Fender Stratocaster and a '68 Fender Bassman head with a 2x15 cab. I let one of my guitar players use that rig. I also have a Fender acoustic guitar with nylon strings. All counted, I have two basses, four guitars, and four amplifiers.
